Founded as a nation dedicated to God, Liberia holds a unique place in Christian history. In the early 1800s, freed African-American slaves—many of them devout Christians—were repatriated through the American Colonization Society with a vision to build a new nation rooted in faith and freedom. Liberia was declared Africa’s first independent republic in 1847, with its capital, Monrovia, named in honor of U.S. President James Monroe. From its beginning, Liberia was envisioned as a Christian nation — a beacon of hope and a spiritual light to the African continent. Though the nation has faced civil conflict, political instability, and social hardship, its foundation in Christ remains a source of hope. Liberia continues to rise as a land of promise, prayer, and divine purpose.
Amid growing national challenges and spiritual decline, a burden arose among Christian leaders to unite and spark a transformative move of God across Liberia. This vision led to the founding of the National Christian Council of Liberia (NCCL) — a body dedicated to national repentance, Christian unity, and spiritual revival.
The Spiritual Revolution was launched as a prophetic movement to restore godly values, moral leadership, and divine purpose in Liberia. Its message is clear: Liberia must return to God to fulfill its redemptive destiny and influence the nations of the earth.
